THE PRODUCT
When the shades were installed, I realized that I needed to have had solar shades added on the patio door (3 window composite) as well. I contacted my sales representative who informed me that Stoneside would get in touch with me to find a solution since they "guaranteed satisfaction". They waited until after the 30-day mark to call me.
On installation, at the end of the day, the technicians stated that there were some pieces missing and, they needed to "train" me on how to recharge the motors. They would come back to finish off the installation. I did not hear back from the scheduler until 35 days after the installation for an appointment. I don't think it was coincidence that I received a call after the 30day mark. Nevertheless, at this point it did not matter as my indignation over the blinds completely overwhelmed anything else. I informed the scheduler that I had had enough time to inspect the installation and would get back to them by e-mail.
The installation was poor at best. In the bedrooms the installation was acceptable because they are standalone windows so there is really nothing much you can compare the installation to and find faults. Note that I have used acceptable - not 5 star by any measure. The installation in the main living areas where the focus of the windows is, and I needed a stellar installation, is poor at best. I would probably give it 0 stars. The first thing I did when I inspected the installation was delete the supervised 5 star review they got from me.
In the converted media room where I had the builder install 4 windows, I have one window where the curtain flops onto the frame base because it is too long. Two windows have their shade slanted so they rise and falls at an angle to the vertical.
In the main living areas, there are variable gaps between the window frames and the shades. The shades do not have any symmetry in the frame placement and look like an amateur installation.
The patio glass door was covered using 3 shades. The shades have almost an inch between them and the spacing between shades 1 and 2 is more than shades 2 and 3. The fascia was placed abutting the door sensor and when the door is closed, the fascia frame knocks off the monitor, triggering the door alarm. I cannot turn on my alarm system because the fascia keeps dislodging the patio screen sensor.
I was promised neutral or transparent bead pullcords for the solar shades to make them less visible. I have black bead pullcords on some windows and neutral bead pull cords on others.
