THE VERDICT

This was an extremely bad purchase. My colleague at work paid less than half for a much better installation from Home Depot! Not even a professional window dressing place - Home Depot of all places. Throughout the custom construction of my house, I have had no problem paying for upgraded items. But I work hard for my money and have insisted on getting a quality product for my money. This is how it should be and this is how it has been. But these shades have been an absolute disappointment. The installation has been abysmal and hopefully my blog will help people make an informed decision on where to get their window dressings from.

THE PRODUCT

When the shades were installed, I realized that I needed to have had solar shades added on the patio door (3 window composite) as well. I contacted my sales representative who informed me that Stoneside would get in touch with me to find a solution since they "guaranteed satisfaction".  They waited until after the 30-day mark to call me. On installation, at the end of the day, the technicians stated that there were some pieces missing and, they needed to "train" me on how to recharge the motors. They would come back to finish off the installation. I did not hear back from the scheduler until 35 days after the installation for an appointment. I don't think it was coincidence that I received a call after the 30day mark. Nevertheless, at this point it did not matter as my indignation over the blinds completely overwhelmed anything else. I informed the scheduler that I had had enough time to inspect the installation and would get back to them by e-mail.  The install...

THE PROMISE

I recently had a new home built in the southern suburbs of Houston. Being a big proponent of ample natural light, and having a relatively nice backyard view, I had several additional windows placed on the walls of the house facing the back. All said and done, the house ended up having 26 windows. Three of these were full size, sliding, "windows" that formed a passage between the lounge and backyard patio. Needless to say, finding shades/blinds/curtains was going to be a time-consuming process.  I spent a lot of time talking to different vendors, visiting hardware stores and looking at different offerings and designs. Eventually, I decided to go with Stoneside Blinds and Shades. This decision was not easy, but it was primarily based on  the quality of work I was shown and promised, and the warranty . The pictures I was shown by the Stoneside designer/salesperson showed shadesthat were perfectly symmetric, had clean edges aligned closely with the window frame borders, clean fas...
