THE PROMISE

I recently had a new home built in the southern suburbs of Houston. Being a big proponent of ample natural light, and having a relatively nice backyard view, I had several additional windows placed on the walls of the house facing the back. All said and done, the house ended up having 26 windows. Three of these were full size, sliding, "windows" that formed a passage between the lounge and backyard patio. Needless to say, finding shades/blinds/curtains was going to be a time-consuming process.

I spent a lot of time talking to different vendors, visiting hardware stores and looking at different offerings and designs. Eventually, I decided to go with Stoneside Blinds and Shades. This decision was not easy, but it was primarily based on the quality of work I was shown and promised, and the warranty. The pictures I was shown by the Stoneside designer/salesperson showed shadesthat were perfectly symmetric, had clean edges aligned closely with the window frame borders, clean fascia and excellent uniformity with adjacent dressings. They blended nicely with the adjacent trims and walls.

We decided on the design and types of shades, which of course, is the honeymoon period when the retailer is doing everything to please you and close the deal. The final price tag was...significant - it was more than the price of a brand-new Toyota Corolla but I was assured that the quality I was getting was worth the price. The windows were measured on 11/26/24 and I was told it could take anywhere from 4-6 weeks for the shades to come in.

Fast forward to installation. The shades somehow were ready sooner than expected which was a nice surprise. I should have known something was not right if they were coming in so quickly. I coordinated the installation and awaited with bated breath. The shades were installed on Dec 18th, 2024, and I was promised a "a 5-star experience". Before leaving the house, one of the installation technicians, insisted I give them a 5 star review and pulled out his cellphone and stood by me to make sure I put in a 5 star review on Google.
